The Lakes and Reservoirs series by Matthew Brandt really moved me. I love his creative thought process. Brandt made C-prints of photographs of specific lakes and reservoirs then soaked them in the respective bodies of water. Beautiful art. See more from the series here and more of his brilliance here.

I have been thinking of you all! I left suddenly last week for various festivities and photo shoots in southern California. These past few days have been absolutely amazing--good weather, being around good people, and livin'. Summer is just about here, I can feel it in my bones! Anyways, since I'll be away from home for another week or so, posting will be light. You can look forward to some sweet art that has been on my radar. The above pieces are by Josie Morway (spotted on My Love For You). I can't stop staring...

Happy Memorial Day by the way! Do you have anything awesome planned?!

These terracotta air plant cradles are so easy on the eyes. My humble abode could definitely use one (or two) of them right about now...

Jessica and Krista know how to throw a party. The Collected launch took place at the 118 WINSTON, a multi purpose space in downtown L.A. designed to explore new ways of integrating art, commerce, and community. The space hosts art exhibits, progressive yoga classes, special events (etc.) all while promoting local and international artists. This particular night the space was filled with art, artists of all kinds, friendly faces, laughter, wine, cheese, hors d'ouevres, and the celebration of the premiere issue of Collected!

WHAT'S YOUR ART?

Welcome to a new series: What's Your Art? My friend Patrick makes a living as a human statue street performer in Seattle. I've known him for a good number of years now and when I first heard about this new endeavor of his, it made so much sense. He does a killer job being a living statue. He rocks his art! Watch the video below by Kaylyn Messer for a more in depth portrait of Patrick.

What's your art? Do you do something in life that will fascinate the masses or that you feel needs to be shared? Do you create, have a cool studio, or have a job that makes the world a better place? If you live in LA, San Francisco, or anywhere in between, liked to be photographed and want to share your art, email me at iartu.jennifer(at)gmail(dot)com with what you do and where you're located. All submissions will be reviewed and you will receive a response if fitting for I ART U.

Who's up next?
