My brother gifted my husband a leather guitar pick from Corter Leather today and I couldn't help but look further into where it came from. Leather has been on my mind lately...

"Corter Leather is a super-small, one man operation. Every product is 100% hand made by maker Eric Heins in a small apartment studio in Boston, Massachusetts. Holes are punched and sewn by hand, hardware is set with a mallet, and though most leather is left natural, colored leather is dyed and oiled in house. No templates are ever made; each piece is cut by memory, making no two pieces perfectly alike."

We spent the weekend in Palm Springs...was anyone in the area? There was a crazy wind storm on Saturday--I've never experienced anything like it (think metal poles bending and pillows flying!). Aside from that it was ever so chill...lazy wake up calls, hot tubbing, a Saturday night dance sesh, good meals and friends. Oh, and it was my first time trying Cheeky's in town--fresh, seasonal, local and organic food...I loved it!

Airbnb + Sunny Loft Living

Airbnb has been a gem for our travels lately. The only "downfall" to the site is that it's addicting (watch out!). We booked this sunny loft nestled in the Mission District--where we typically spend most of our time in San Francisco. It was perfection for our much needed getaway. The host was super cool and had the best recommendations for us around the city. Have any of you booked travels using Airbnb? I highly recommend it!

Oh, and thank you for leaving such awesome recommendations of places to visit in SF--I'm taking notes!

Josh and I celebrated our anniversary by taking a trip up the coast this week. Have any of you been to Big Sur in California? My goodness, it is insanely gorgeous--I can't believe it was my first time! Anyways, it was a really laid back trip and I thought I would be able to post a few times during the week but ha--that didn't happen. I loved the time off (much needed!) but am also looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. I'll share some images from our trip next week--see you Monday!

Happy New Year, all! This is one of my favorite times of the year. It's a time I enjoy reflecting and starting anew--with fresh perspectives, possibilities, and goals. My husband and I met on January 1st and we are lucky to celebrate our anniversary on January 1st every year too! Major plus, right? We've been married for three years now!

A lot has happened around these parts in the last month. Most exciting of all I was able to leave my main part time job and will be focusing on my business as a photographer this year. Two thousand and eleven was really good to me and I'm looking forward to what this new year will bring. I'm ready to work hard and play hard!

How is everything going on your end? Were the holidays good to you? I've been absent from the blog world and and am ready to dive back in. I've missed you! I can't end this post without saying a big thank you to each and every one of you for taking the time to read, comment on my posts, and give me feedback. I'm thankful for those who have reached out, and for those of you who I've gotten the chance to know outside of our blogs. Thank you for the referrals, the support, the advice...the list goes on. 1. What's your art?

My art is making things. I make anything from websites, to event design, to crafts and clothing.

2. What brought you to New York from San Diego and what's your favorite thing about New York so far?

I've always had a strong desire to move to New York and after my last visit I just bit the bullet and made the move. I was lucky enough to have savings and sell my car which made it a lost easier to come here without a job. My favorite thing about New York is watching the people here, New Yorkers are a fantastic bunch despite the stereotype that they are cold and always busy.

3. What keeps you going?

Besides massive volumes of coffee, the internet and blog/twitter community keeps me going. All of my internet friends are doing wonderful and beautiful things everyday and I just want to create things that enrich that community as well.

Guess I should introduce myself...I'm Jeremiah from Emerald Son. I came across these Hans Silvester photographs recently and was mesmerized by the colors, textures and graphic elements represented on the Ethopian Omo Tribe's bodies. There seems to be a story behind every one of those lines, shapes and botanical head dresses. After seeing these photographs, I thought there would be no better way than to translate the colors and textures into the other areas of our life that most represent the best of color and texture: Outfits & Spaces.

Hi there, it's Casey from K.I.D. Collective again. I'm an interior designer and I blog from time to time about my work, what inspires me and the food I love. When Jennifer asked me to put together a post while she's out traveling, I immediately thought about a travel related post (and how she always seems to be on the go) and then the food. We both love the food.

In my mind, you're either a breakfast person or you aren't, there's no middle ground for this one. I happen to fall in the breakfast loving category. My favorite breakfast is a weekend morning when I can relax with a cup of coffee, catch up on whatever I happen to be reading at the moment and then make breakfast, almost always a few hours after I wake up. I've never been much of a wake up and eat kind of girl.

The rest of the week, when I'm not up a few hours before I head to work, I try to plan ahead and take my own breakfast with me. My favorite is lowfat Greek yogurt, granola, seasonal fresh fruit all topped off with honey. I like putting it in a pint sized mason jar because it's so much nicer eating out of glass than plastic and because the mason jar cap screws on and doesn't ever pop off in my bag. My cousin-in-law, Jora, makes a great granola recipe if you want to make it yourself instead of buying. The recipe card below can be saved or scaled and printed on a 3x5 note card too. Enjoy!

Hey guys, Emmadime here! Ijust recently acquired a few new hats from a nice man who sadly had to partfrom them. He was getting rid of the majority of his belongings- and boy-o-boydid he have a lot of amazing hats!! As I tried on each one, he told me thestory behind it - where he got it, how long he had it, why there was a stain ora rip! I loved the personality and life that was already invested in them... Ihave been collecting hats for a while now and this experience only heightenedmy love for them - and when I say love, I mean obsession :)

Stopping in to say hello. I had a really enjoyable time in Monterey, CA this weekend with friends I hold very dear to my heart! We spent time on the beach, enjoyed good meals, and witnessed two remarkable friends say their "I do's". It's been a while since I've been a guest at a wedding (sans camera) and I had the best time being in the presence of friends and celebrating love. Sadly, this is a short update as I'm about to get on the road again for some work. I'm hoping to catch you up on what I've been doing this summer. Soon...

We had a beautiful overcast weekend here in San Luis Obispo. Nothing like a summer thunderstorm to mix things up a bit. I shot a perfectly simple wedding, spent some time with good friends, ate delicious food, and enjoyed time outdoors. My husband and I attended an especially moving memorial service yesterday that left us feeling hopeful and fulfilled. It's been 10 years but it still feels like yesterday...

I am fascinated by these maps. They're printed on lightweight, flexible material that is durable and waterproof, and can be stuffed into your pocket or handbag. Practical and pretty--I think I need one for my New York trip next month! The maps are made in Italy and Available at Brooklyn 5 and 10.

I'm forcing myself to take a break this month (inspired by Katrina!). This was a very hard decision for me to make because blogging has become such a normal activity in my life. I thought I would use this month to soak up the last of summer...spend my days lounging on the beach and hiking in the mountains, have dinner with friends on a regular basis, enjoy more time in the kitchen, in the yoga studio, in cafés....spend less time in front of the computer and more time being present. I'm not going to ditch out completely though! I'll be posting textless entries with personal photographs I snap this month and you can click on the images for more info. Snap It Pretty Recap!

There were so many amazing details at the Snap It Pretty Workshop. Danni and Ruby really outdid themselves! From the lunches wrapped in hand sewn pieces of fabric, to the crafted boutonnières and grab bags, everything from the day had a special touch from the talented duo. It was a relaxed afternoon and I had the best time sharing some knowledge and hanging out with a really cool and creative group of girls. I'm so excited to give you a peek into the life of Justina Blakeney! I love this girl! She's the kind of person you always want to be around--has a style that inspires, a sense of humor that will always keep you laughing, and a creative mind that moves the masses. Justina is a blogger and the co-founder (along with her sister Faith) of Compai, a design studio/consultancy specializing in style and sustainability, incorporating recycled materials and environmentally friendly practices into the design process whenever possible. She also works as the Marketing Manager for the awesome company Woolly Pocket. I visited her office recently and snapped a few pictures of her in action, then we headed to her studio/home aka The Jungalow to snap a few more.

Justina! Tell us, what's your art?

My art is my life--from the crazy outfits I pick out to wear in the morning to the upcycled doodads that I make at night and the visual communications that I create in between. To me, art is not a profession or a trade or a learned skill or a talent, but a colorful, cathartic way of engaging and interpreting the universe.

What keeps you going?

I'm the type of person that always has a lot on my plate. The good news is, I have a healthy appetite. Life is short, and it keeps getting shorter, so I try and do what I can to make it sweet and meaningful.
