HEADING HOME

I spent last week in NYC and I'm heading home to SLO today. It was silly of me to think I'd have time for blogging on my trip. So, I'm back at it this week. Those 100 week photos are still coming, I promise! Above is a sneak peek (and one of my faves). Our little family has started a tradition of taking a walk when we wake, and before we sleep--it's been life-changing!

THE PRINT ATELIER

PA"Because photography is an art to be shared." The Print Atelier, an online art gallery founded by Maude Arsenault, has had my attention this week. Nine artists showcase their photos--such moving works of art, carefully curated and all displayed in a beautiful way, reminding me to slow down and take in every moment. Read more about TPA here and be sure peruse the galleries

It's a weekend away in Santa Barbara for me. Have a fantastic one you all! -J.

Did anyone get a chance to participate in The 100 Week? I'd love to see and share your snaps (email me)! The above is from Josh's roll. Cool, right? I'll be sharing some of my pictures next week.

Hope you're having a good one!

POKETO X KATE BINGAMAN BURT

It's not a secret that I'm a fan of Poketo. They really take collaborations to the next level (check out the all of the artists they've worked with!). Their recent collaboration with illustrator Kate Bingaman Burt is an eye-catcher for sure--a colorful new collection of hand-printed kitchen linens made from 100 percent pure linen. The ink used on the linens is non-toxic and water-based (always a plus in my book) making them completely safe for your home. I think Kate's work and Poketo are a perfect match!

How do you integrate art into your everyday living?

Loved this small-batch coffee roastery and tasting room in San Diego I visited a few weeks back. Their involvement with the community and effort to bring about collaborative change caught my attention. Catch Coffee & Tea  Collective on Instagram (candtcollective) to see what they're up to.

Laguna Beach

I spent this last week in Laguna beach working while Josh attended a conference. I set my desktop up beachside (in the hotel of course!) and my days were filled with walks with Dexter and photo edits. When did Laguna beach get so beautiful? I was especially inspired by the blueish green water and the one overcast day we had.

How was your week? I'm so thankful for this lazy Sunday!

Oh HEY! You all are sweet. Thanks for the emails and comments concerning the last photo I posted. All is well on this end. I've enjoyed the unintentional break over the last couple weeks and have enjoyed shooting, attending, and being in weddings, family and friends visiting SLO, playing florist (a huge passion of mine!) for my brother's wedding, beachin' it, dinner with friends...it hasn't been a bit bad.

As for blogging, I've loved the time away and have decided to take the rest of September off from this space. I'm feeling a little "lost" in the blog world and lately, it seems to be more of a stress than an outlet for me. Aside from that, posting (and being inspired to post) has been a bit slim around these parts--I think it's an indication for me to step back, disconnect, and re-evaluate a few things. Breaks are always a good thing in my book!

October will bring a fresh start with a brand new look for IAU (finally! this one has been "temporary" for ages)...and I want to bring new columns aboard as well as open a print shop. For the rest of September, I'll post photos here occasionally and you can click through to Flickr for more info. In the meantime, catch me on Instagram (iartu_jennifer) to see the latest  and current happenings.

On another note, here are a few things I've been loving this month...
+ Shoko's Equals Record posts--such good and honest advice for a lot of things I've been dealing with lately.
+ Peach white balsamic vinegar...reduced and drizzled over vanilla ice cream!
+ I'm on board with this month's 30 Days of GOOD...who's with me?

Enjoy the rest of September and as always, thanks for reading. See you soon!

My call for stone fruit recipes resulted in some awesome links. Thanks you guys! Jade linked this visually appealing New York Times article with 12 stone fruit recipes that I've had my nose in this week. I thought I'd share the wealth with you. I'll be making a trip to farmer's market tonight and you can bet I'll be picking up a plethora of ingredients for the above. Cheers!

I've been wanting to crash at Palihouse Holloway ever since I stepped foot in the hotel last summer. So when I spotted a good deal on Tablet recently, and a trip to LA was needed, I did just that. I love the large suite-style rooms, simple and attractive attention to detail, and of course the abundance of natural light that streamed through the windows. I'd love to shoot a bride getting ready in one of these rooms one day...any takers?
