this week i am featuring two sweet photographers that i have become friends with in the past couple of months! two of you lucky readers will be able to hang some new art on your wall soon :)
meet leila from olive juice photography! from what i know of leila, she has lived an incredible life so far! she is very well traveled, lived in denmark to play soccer professionally (!), and is now pursuing photography in culver city (the sweet city where the husband and i got married!!!). her work has warmed my heart! moving from southern california to the central coast, i have missed sights and scenes from what i know as of home (like this and this!).
i snort when i laugh. and snore when i sleep. practicing yogi. soccer player. green banana eater. nomad of the western world. i LOVE to sneeze.and hiccup. guilty of breaking the 30 second rule and dancing to the beat of my own drum. i love all things nature, especially of the dog and bird and tree variety. and i have an undeniable lust for pickles and cinnamon. i am a little quirky and unrefined. i am inspired all of the time by just the little things in life.. that is what truly makes me happy. i love the simplicity in things and i usually just take photographs of what makes me smile hoping that it will make someone else smile too...
another inspiration in my life is the amazing alex from pipe and pepper! recently featured on the lovely oh joy blog, alex has combined her love for vintage and photography and created something that is so uniquely her! along with selling vintage items on etsy, she also sells her prints of all of her fascinating finds! genius! she has really inspired me to open up the kitchen shoppe again (or something of the like)! i love her eye for design and styling! best of all, alex lives in slo! can't wait to collaborate with her!
A little bit about Alex!
“I have always been creative… the wheels are always turning. I see it as both a blessing and a curse, as I really have fun exploring new ways to stretch my creative legs, while maintaining the financial practicality of a college student. Being creative gets expensive! I am finishing up my degree at Cal Poly in photography, and in the process of figuring out what sort of photos I really love to take, I began incorporating my passion for thrift store shopping. Pipe and Pepper is the name of my photography/vintage online shop where I sell not only the one of a kind an unique items I stumble across, but also the photos that I take of these finds. I do not know what comes next after I get this degree, but I do know that taking photos will certainly be in the picture.” (if you're in town, please stop by higher groundz to check out alexs' amazing work--she is the featured artist this month!)
love her colorful splash series!:
