Classic Organic is our usual fruit/vegetable stand pit stop when we make the trek home to SLO from LA (it's just off the 101 freeway). Helmut, the farmer pictured above, has farmed organically since 1971 (check out this rad picture of him from when he was barely 30). It's the perfect place to pick up the freshest seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs and support local farming. And the most charming part to me? The fact that it's run by the honor system!

Ooh I've never heard of orange mint! There are so many more types of mint than I thought there were!

What a great looking farm! I love getting fresh local food.

we also have this honor system in germany and switzerland for mainly berries, potatoes, and flowers! loved to go to the flower filed to pick a bunch when I lived in switzerland!

beautifully crisp and colorful fruits/veggies. if they looked like that everywhere, i would definitely eat them more often and my mom would be proud of me :)

too bad helmut cut off his beard. it looked fierce!

Pick your own strawberries sound fun!

I love a fruit and veggie stall with a honesty box. I always want to leave them something extra, like a bunch of wild flowers or a little drawing to put a smile on their face.
