the changi airport has always been impressive to me. for as long as i can remember, it consistently seemed to have some kind of living and lush decor/installation that would force me to slow down and take my time walking through. my favorite was the incredible orchid garden display (that i always thought was fake!). it never really felt like i was in an airport.
well, they've outdone themselves again! in december 2009 a 36 foot long by 7+ foot high vertical garden was installed in terminal one (see pics below). word on the street is that there is a 900+ foot (whaaaaa?) wide by 50 foot green tapestry wall in terminal three--which is perhaps the largest interior landscape feature anywhere in the world. did i read that wrong somewhere? well if that's not amazing...i don't know what is! it's like they knew i was coming.

i'm headed to singapore and china and will be there for the next two weeks! oh how i've missed the food, culture, beauty, and mostly, my dear family! i'm looking forward to connecting with the old, and experiencing the new. --and so i bid you farewell! i'm not sure what the internet situation will be like, but i'll try to stop in once in a while. i will miss you all dearly.
be well!

ReplyDeleteYeah Changi was awesome! Went to Singapore after I graduated High School as part of a month long scuba diving adventure. You never saw the orchid tenders? That would be a pretty sweet gig - just taking care of flowers in a beautiful building all day. Have a safe trip!
