It was all that I thought it would be and more. Josh saved up his pretty pennies and surprised me with tickets to Outstanding in the Field for my birthday this year. The five course meal took place on the land of the Rinconada Dairy in Santa Margarita 25 minutes from San Luis Obispo.
Being a long time fan of Jim Denevan's work (not only with Outstanding in the Field but his large scale art installations as well), it was a surreal experience to meet him and hear his stories. He is an incredible artist (more on him and OITF here and here).
One of my favorite parts of the evening is when the sun slowly dipped below the horizon. The transition from light to darkness was magical...
