I visited a couple of places in Los Angeles last weekend that I've been hearing about lately and they did not disappoint. Throw in teaching and hanging with a creative bunch, a mini picnic with amazing people, and a show at the Hollywood Bowl with Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monae, Sharon Jones (and more), and you've got yourself perfection. Looking forward to more summer adventures like such...

Snap It Pretty Recap!

There were so many amazing details at the Snap It Pretty Workshop. Danni and Ruby really outdid themselves! From the lunches wrapped in hand sewn pieces of fabric, to the crafted boutonnières and grab bags, everything from the day had a special touch from the talented duo. It was a relaxed afternoon and I had the best time sharing some knowledge and hanging out with a really cool and creative group of girls. Pinterest never fails to keep me going. I haven't had the best of luck keeping up with blog reading lately but whenever I need a quick dose of inspiration, I know where to go. Ahhh... so excited for the weekend. Happy Friday! I'm looking forward to hanging with Danni and Ruby tomorrow at Snap it Pretty! And on Sunday the husband and I will be under the stars taking in the tunes of Stevie Wonder+ at the Hollywood Bowl. Anyone going? Have a great weekend! :) -J.

What's Your Art? // Justina Blakeney

I'm so excited to give you a peek into the life of Justina Blakeney! I love this girl! She's the kind of person you always want to be around--has a style that inspires, a sense of humor that will always keep you laughing, and a creative mind that moves the masses. Justina is a blogger and the co-founder (along with her sister Faith) of Compai, a design studio/consultancy specializing in style and sustainability, incorporating recycled materials and environmentally friendly practices into the design process whenever possible. She also works as the Marketing Manager for the awesome company Woolly Pocket. I visited her office recently and snapped a few pictures of her in action, then we headed to her studio/home aka The Jungalow to snap a few more.

Justina! Tell us, what's your art?

My art is my life--from the crazy outfits I pick out to wear in the morning to the upcycled doodads that I make at night and the visual communications that I create in between. To me, art is not a profession or a trade or a learned skill or a talent, but a colorful, cathartic way of engaging and interpreting the universe.



What keeps you going?

I'm the type of person that always has a lot on my plate. The good news is, I have a healthy appetite. Life is short, and it keeps getting shorter, so I try and do what I can to make it sweet and meaningful.

Hello Wedding World

The first wedding I shot solo is on my photo blog! Windansea beach in La Jolla created the perfect backdrop for a simple and stunning ceremony. I fell in love with La Jolla during my visit and am thinking it's time for another jaunt out there...anyone care to join?

Is it really Friday already? I'm welcoming the weekend with open arms that's for sure. The two things on my agenda: prepping for a photo show and drinking in the beauty of the first issue of Kinfolk. How about you?
