Weekend

An entire Sunday without work. The beach, a pumpkin patch and corn field, and little bits of fall...love! Hope you enjoyed the weekend. What's on your agenda tonight? Nothing much here, just a little Dead Man's Bones! xo -J.

It was nice not having anything on the agenda except for things like ice cream and art. The city never fails to draw me in each time I visit. I look forward to the day when I buy that one way ticket...

Guess I should introduce myself...I'm Jeremiah from Emerald SonI sort of feel like the new kid still, I just started blogging a few months ago but am happy to have been invited to sit at the cool table, with all of you kids because as you all know by now, Jennifer has great style and lots of talent!

When I heard about Jennifer going to New York I became very angry that I wasn't extended an invite (next time Jenn!) so I will attempt to live vicariously through my guest post. Here's what I would bring if I was given a chance to take holiday in New York.

I came across these Hans Silvester photographs recently and was mesmerized by the colors, textures and graphic elements represented on the Ethopian Omo Tribe's bodies. There seems to be a story behind every one of those lines, shapes and botanical head dresses. After seeing these photographs, I thought there would be no better way than to translate the colors and textures into the other areas of our life that most represent the best of color and texture: Outfits & Spaces.

GUEST POST // BREAKFAST ON THE GO by CASEY KEASLER

*Casey is back with another awesome post! Have you downloaded her mix yet? I can't stop listening to it... Thanks again Casey!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there, it's Casey from K.I.D. Collective again. I'm an interior designer and I blog from time to time about my work, what inspires me and the food I love. When Jennifer asked me to put together a post while she's out traveling, I immediately thought about a travel related post (and how she always seems to be on the go) and then the food. We both love the food.

In my mind, you're either a breakfast person or you aren't, there's no middle ground for this one. I happen to fall in the breakfast loving category. My favorite breakfast is a weekend morning when I can relax with a cup of coffee, catch up on whatever I happen to be reading at the moment and then make breakfast, almost always a few hours after I wake up. I've never been much of a wake up and eat kind of girl.

The rest of the week, when I'm not up a few hours before I head to work, I try to plan ahead and take my own breakfast with me. My favorite is lowfat Greek yogurt, granola, seasonal fresh fruit all topped off with honey. I like putting it in a pint sized mason jar because it's so much nicer eating out of glass than plastic and because the mason jar cap screws on and doesn't ever pop off in my bag. My cousin-in-law, Jora, makes a great granola recipe if you want to make it yourself instead of buying. The recipe card below can be saved or scaled and printed on a 3x5 note card too. Enjoy!

Hi there! Jessica from Destined to Design filling in for the fabulous Jennifer while she's away enjoying NYC. With the leaves falling and the breeze kicking in lately, I'm leaving summer behind for more autumnal hues and styles. I paired a few photos by the incredibly talented Ana Cabaleiro with a couple things I'm coveting this season. Aren't those colors just captivating?

Hey guys, Emmadime here! I just recently acquired a few new hats from a nice man who sadly had to part from them. He was getting rid of the majority of his belongings- and boy-o-boy did he have a lot of amazing hats!! As I tried on each one, he told me the story behind it - where he got it, how long he had it, why there was a stain or a rip! I loved the personality and life that was already invested in them... I have been collecting hats for a while now and this experience only heightened my love for them - and when I say love, I mean obsession :)

Hello, this is Casey from K.I.D Collective. Today's post is a music mix inspired by Jennifer's trip to NY. When I'm on a plane, I do three things; sleep, work, read. It's always nice to have music to listen to when traveling so I put together a mix that is mellow and a little quiet in hopes that it will provide a little background noise for those long airplane commutes. Thanks for asking me to contribute Jennifer and enjoy your trip!

Download the mix here.

1. Divina - Toro Y Moi
2. Within and Without - Washed Out
3. Agoraphobia - Deerhunter
4. Waters - Air Waves
5. Heart Of Gold - Neil Young
6. I Don't Blame You - Cat Power
7. Best Night - War On Drugs
8. You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory - White Fence
9. Addicted to Love - Florence + The Machine
10. Last Night At The Jetty - Panda Bear
11. In Every Direction - Junip
12. For 12 - Other Lives
13. When Were Dancing - Twin Shadow

AROUND THE WEB, LINKS, AND NYC.

posted on: October 03, 2011

I'm headed to the Big Apple tomorrow morning! That's right NYC, I'm comin' for you! It's been a crazy last few days finishing up some work, shooting a wedding, and tying up loose ends on the internets but I thought I'd link a few guest posts and features around the web from the last month that I've failed to share with you. As for when I'm away, enjoy an incredible lineup of guest bloggers this week (and part of next) here on I ART U.

CRU, issue 2

// Le Grand Cru recently released their second issue of CRU and it's filled with inspirational stories, people, and some major eye candy. They asked me to share the ACE hotel snaps from my recent Seattle trip in the zine. So cool! Thank you so much Tommy and Mike. Check out the issue here.

// Incredibly honored to be featured on Jessica's blog, Destined to Design, in her "For the Record" series. Take a peek into my world here.

// Andrea from Fly asked if she could use an image for this rad feature of the lovely and ever-so-talented Justina (along with awesome snaps from Dab). Of course the answer was yes! Be inspired by the bright, bold, and beautiful, Justina. (Just found another feature on J...here!)

// Get your frittata on with this guest post on Pennyweight.

...OK, enough of that. Stay tuned for some serious creatives here in the coming days.

P.S. I'll be available for hire in NYC from October 6th to the 11th if anyone is interested in a photoshoot (engagement, portrait, studio, etc.). Email me at iartu.jennifer(at)gmail(dot)com to inquire. I'd love to work with some of you east coasters!
