Did someone just write or tweet about this lovely lady? I found her site on my desktop but I'm unsure of where I clicked through from. She's a new-to-me artist that exudes an incredible amount of beauty and has a contagious peaceful energy about her that I love. Lianne La Havas...I'm a fan. Download a free EP here to get a taste of her work. And thanks to whoever shared her with me!
GUEST POST // HIGH IN THE SKY MIX by CASEY KEASLER
posted on: October 04, 2011

Hello, this is Casey from
K.I.D Collective. Today's post is a music mix inspired by Jennifer's trip to NY. When I'm on a plane, I do three things; sleep, work, read.
It's always nice to have music to listen to when traveling so I put together a
mix that is mellow and a little quiet in hopes that it will provide a little
background noise for those long airplane commutes. Thanks for asking me to
contribute Jennifer and enjoy your trip!
Download the mix here.

Turntable Kitchen | Connecting Food + Music
posted on: September 08, 2011
"Turntable Kitchen is a site connecting food and music, born in a foggy Inner Sunset, San Francisco apartment and run by an inspired couple: Kasey (also known as Ksenya) and Matthew. They feature recipes with a focus on local, fresh ingredients, hand-selected 'Musical Pairings,' album reviews and musings on their city livin' and country hoppin' adventures. Most importunely, they aim to introduce food lovers to music and vice versa."
When I read about the musical pairing of a Squash Blossom Omelet + The Shins album, Oh, Inverted World (Garden State, anyone?), I was sold. I could get used to my meals having a musical companion! If you enjoy good music and good eats, you'll definitely enjoy exploring Turntable Kitchen.
JAPAN COMPILATION by LE GRAND CRU
posted on: May 03, 2011

Community! That's where it's at. Le Grand Cru released a special compilation today to help raise money for the victims who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The digital album features a "heavy SEA-town roster" with a few songs that haven't been public until now. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to direct relief. You can listen to the entire album before you purchase it here.
For more info and to see a video about the makings of the album, check out the Le Grand Cru blog. Please spread the word if you feel inclined, thank you!

THE VINYL FACTORY // MUSIC IS ART
posted on: March 30, 2011
I've been digging pop-up shops/concepts as of late. The Vinyl Factory concept store, Music is Art (via we heart), is located in the front room of the St Martins Lane Hotel in London. The space "pays homage to records and the relationship between music and art, celebrating the unique, the tangible and the rare in an age of rapid digital consumption". Brilliant.

this is heavy and light. i haven't posted anything on the gulf oil spill but it doesn't mean it hasn't been on my mind and heart! not sure if i have the right words but my friend tommy has really good thoughts about design + current oil spill situation that i resonate with [here]. i thought the above image (from crude awakening) and recording were worth a post. see and hear...check it!
